A early project in which polystyrene boxes with bees were air-dropped into cranberry bogs for pollination services. The red spot is a parachute with the small hive attached. The unit was queenless. Ultimately, the idea did not work efficiently.

Hives with traditional section supers in place. The tall colony is badly crowded in order to force the bees to work the section supers. In rebellion, the bees would frequently swarm or even abscond. But otherwise, beautiful basswood sections of comb honey was the result. Most of the equipment pictured is no longer manufactured.
